Early assessment and targeted rehabilitation can significantly reduce recovery time and enhance outcomes following a concussion.

What is a Concussion?

A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury resulting from a direct impact to the head or a forceful body collision causing the brain to move within the skull. Concussions can occur in various situations such as sports injuries, falls, motor vehicle accidents, and workplace incidents. Symptoms may not always involve loss of consciousness and can appear immediately or develop over time.

Concussion Treatment

Recovering from a concussion is different for everyone. While many people improve within a few weeks, others may experience ongoing symptoms that affect work, sport, study, and everyday life.

Early assessment and the right treatment can make an important difference to your recovery. Following the initial 24–48 hours of relative rest, a gradual return to physical and cognitive activity is generally recommended, guided by your symptoms and individual progress.

Our Concussion Treatment Approach

At Core & Motion, we take an individualised, evidence-based approach to concussion rehabilitation. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your symptoms, goals, and stage of recovery, helping you return safely to the activities that matter most.

Depending on your needs, your rehabilitation program may include:

  • Comprehensive physiotherapy assessment
  • Hands-on physiotherapy to address neck pain and movement restrictions
  • Individualised exercise rehabilitation
  • Balance and movement retraining
  • Clinical strength and conditioning
  • Education to help you understand and manage your symptoms
  • Progressive return to work, study, sport, and everyday activities
  • Ongoing guidance and support throughout your recovery

Every concussion is different, which is why we work closely with you to develop a personalised rehabilitation plan that supports both your immediate recovery and your long-term health.
