Hydrotherapy & Aquatic Physiotherapy: Warm Water Rehabilitation at Core and Motion

Discover the transformative benefits of Hydrotherapy, also known as Aquatic Physiotherapy, with the experienced team at Core and Motion Physiotherapy. Our physiotherapist-led programs harness the unique properties of warm water to provide highly effective low-impact exercise and rehabilitation for a wide range of conditions.

What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy involves performing therapeutic exercises in a heated pool under the direct supervision of one of our qualified physiotherapists. The water’s temperature is maintained at a comfortable, therapeutic level, which helps to promote muscle relaxation and increase blood flow, making movement easier and less painful.

The Key Benefits of Aquatic Physiotherapy

The physics of water makes it an ideal environment for recovery and strength building:

      • Buoyancy: The natural buoyancy of the water supports the body, significantly reducing the load and compression on weight-bearing joints (like the hips, knees, and spine). This allows you to exercise with minimal joint pain and increased confidence.
      • Resistance: Water provides gentle yet consistent resistance in all directions, making it an excellent medium for building strength and endurance without the risk of heavy lifting.
      • Hydrostatic Pressure: The pressure exerted by the water assists with reducing swelling and improving circulation, offering valuable pain management benefits for injured limbs.

Who is Hydrotherapy For?

Our physiotherapist-designed hydrotherapy programs are ideal for individuals managing conditions that make land-based exercise challenging. We specialize in treating:

      • Chronic Back Pain and spinal conditions.
      • Arthritis (Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis) for improved mobility.
      • Post-operative rehabilitation (e.g., knee or hip replacements, spinal surgery).
      • Sports injuries and muscle tears during early-stage recovery.
      • Fibromyalgia and other forms of chronic pain.
      • Balance and stability issues, including Vertigo and neurological conditions.

Your Physio-Led Sessions

At Core and Motion, your program is designed and supervised by our team of highly experienced physiotherapists, many of whom have 10-20 years of clinical experience. We offer flexible options to suit your needs:

      • Individual (1:1) Sessions: One-on-one tailored sessions focused entirely on your specific goals.
      • Small Group Classes: Supervised classes where you follow your individual program within a supportive group setting.

This ensures your hydrotherapy exercise is clinically tailored to your specific recovery stage and goals.
